Key fob battery fast draining

My 2011 RRS L320 key fob battery is draining extra fast... every 2 weeks fast, which equates to approx 7 uses. So 5 batteries later and different possible solutions tried and failed, including keeping key away from chargers and other electrical devices.. keeping key in faraday pouch... cleaning the internals of the fob with alcohol, I thought it time to ask the oracle, namely, you lot, before the second mortgage inducing purchase of a new one from the stealers.

Hope you can help and thanks in advance

Where have you been getting your batteries?

While I've never had fob batteries drain that fast, I've had poor battery life from some 'branded' batteried bought off eBay or Amazon, leading me to thinking they've probably been well priced due to being fakes (apparently very common). This was sorted by paying the previously considered inflated prices for a battery from the dealer. 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

Funny you should say that. Yes, they were from Amazon and Duracell branded, so just now I have put proper one in and see how that goes. Thanks for your input

Quick update...... Well got genuine batteries and same happening. So I emailed dealers and get this.....

New key fob £176 each. (Fair enough)
New module for car £184 (can't program new key to old module.. apparently)
Labour 1.5 hours . £270

Total £630 for a new programmed key. WTF.

So for 5 years worth of batteries draining every 2 weeks will be approximately half that cost

got in touch with RRUK (many thanks), but he says it is probably the module at fault and unfortunately the dealer has monopoly on this item. Going to shop around different dealers. Not sure if I can play them against each other, but will give it a go
