Webasto heater advice

Hi once again. I am stlii getting used to my sdv6 black edition rrs sport. I have found that when I have the engine running from cold and cabin temptrature set at say 24 degrees the webasto is running. If I turn the cabin heater off the webasto goes off. I have turned off the timers on the dash so I know it’s not that but does the webasto come on until the car is up to the desired temperature ? My thinking is the webasto just helps the car get up to temperature quicker rather 5han a conventional heater or am I thinking incorrectly. Can’t figure out any other reason.i presume in hot weather or when the car is at normal temperature the webasto one’s not come on. Ami I right or not ?

Hi
your right the FBH is there to help the cars coolant get up to temprature not the cars interior heating

it can fire up on and off during slow stop start traffic as the engine needs it

Mine only kicks in on startup if the ambient temperature is below 5 degrees as per handbook. Steve

Webasto

Hi, I thought that was the case but when I turn the blowers off to the cab the webasto goes off and when I turn the blowers on it comes on again. I had already left the engine running for 15 mins and temperature gauge was just over a quarter of the way from cold. I’m just checking this is the way it’s supposed to be.

Hi,
dont know then Question Question

but

a diesel car on tick over does not create a lot of heat, maybe with internal heating on the engine needs the FBH on to help it and when you turn fans off there is enough engine heat that it does not need the FBH on Confused

As the weather and temp gets colder more peeps will start to see/hear the FBH come on, stop at the shops come back out and its on again.

take it for a good run get the engine warm turn the fans and car heat up to full and see if the FBH kicks it, I doubt it will

The FBH on my Disco with the SDV6 engine will run when the engine is running until the operating temperature has stabilised at 'normal', whereas the FBH in my RRS with the TDV8 will shut down as soon as the gauge is halfway to 'normal'.

I don't know if this helps, but there it is.
