Strange sound and issues

Hi guys, I’m after so much needed help after garages costing me a fortune with no fix to my issue.I have a RRA 2.7 2005.It isn’t showing any lights on the dash. When it’s stationery or with revs it’s sounds normal and acts fine but when i accelerate there is a loss of power with medium acceleration and what I can only describe as a sound almost like a rev limiter.Cruising at a speed of say 70mph seems to be fine. There is a strong smell of diesel when outside the vehicle and it does have black smoke under hard acceleration(egr are blanked). It tends to sound rough when accelerating up hill also.I had one garage say injectors after inspecting then another say no it’s not injectors and we’re looking at other possibilities.Ive still had no luck and seem to be throwing money away and making no progress.Any help would be much appreciated

If the limiter sound, sounds like a chuffing noise then I’d suspect a split pipe or manifold. No power could be symptom of a seized turbo actuator. 2012 5.0 SC AB

Black smoke means over fuelling which is one symptom of a split intercooler hose. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Good question. A "garage" doesn't cut it, generally. It needs to be a LR specialist. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I’ve not taken it to a LR specialist but I think that’s what I’ll do next.Has anyone had failed injectors and know what the symptoms are with these?I had a new turbo pipe fitted and will now mention what you guys have said in case that’s something they have missed
