White smoke on startup with 2010 RRS

I had White smoke on startup and rough idling on 2010 RRS SC. Mileage 172000 km.
It was fixed by replacing the PCV valve. To replace the PCV valve you will have to replace the complete tappet cover, it is build into it. Not sure why they do that, because I took the old one apart and noticed that it was only 2 rubber diaphragms that were halfway torn.

Strangely, the White smoke on startup only started after I took it for a service at the dealer. I was confused and thought they broke something, but I suppose it was the new oil starting it.
The other symptom of a faulty PCV valve, you hear a air whistling noise when idling and shutting down.

Hope this can help someone in the future.

Regards
JL

Presumably the PCV oil separator was letting some oil through in to the engine air inlet and that was burning off when starting. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
