About to bite the bullet: 2006 4.2 SC V8

Hi,
I've been lurking here when wrestling with myself whether to go for RRS or not. Now I've found tempting choice:
MY2006 (Oct 2005 build) of 4.2 SC.

I owned Disco 3 few years back, but traded that in because of leaking steering rack and a bit threatening 2.7 TDV6.

I've tried to find some alerts of 4.2 SC but actually haven't found any serious ones. What say you, is 2006 RRS 4.2 SC worth of buying still in 2020?

Thanks in advance!

United Kingdom

I've had my 2005 4.2SC for 3 years and have loved every minute of it! In fact it will be 15 years old next Sunday when it rolled off the production line in Solihull.
Had a few things to put right but the engine seems bullet proof and it's still in amazing condition.
By far the best car I have ever driven and owned.
My advice, is go for it! 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue
2005 4.2L Supercharged Java Black - gone but was my first love.

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

Thanks for encouragement!

I got better pictures of the car I’m thinking of. But this trim looks somewhat weird. Has there originally been black glass fibre trim or similar?

I think that’s been painted.

Yes, I think so too. It’s either painted or taped. But in pictures looks weird. Let’s see how it is when I visit the dealer tomorrow morning.

And yes, my mileage is so low and mainly short trips that I only consider petrol and SC.

We have had our sc for two years now. It's a nice drive but I prefer my old X5.
That said, the sc is a nice place to sit with the high centre console and arm rests.

ive got an SC. Love it, I'd get the head unit upgraded as quickly as humanely possible and its basically a modern as any car.

Malaysia 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Chawton White

I own a 2006, 4.2SC.
It is the first RRS to be sold and registered in Malaysia and I've never regretted this decision. Very Happy Malaysia Boleh!

Thanks for encouragement. I try to negotiate reasonable deal with the seller. The car I'm looking for is almost there. However needs fixing. Nothing too serious but few grands anyway. Let’s see, if we can agree I’ll take it. Otherwise, search continues.

Update to the topic

This car I was looking was a bad deal, luckily I checked it with the indy I know well. Many expensive fixes needed. I dropped out, but someone bought it few days later Shocked

Then I found another one, excellent service history, decent deal from my Audi. Lessons learned, be quick when the right one is around. I had so much to do and needed to postpone deal over weekend and someone bought that as well Big Cry

So still looking…
