It rather depends what sort of use it normally gets. If you normally do short runs then the battery might be a bit low anyway. A smart charger left plugged in would keep it all nicely topped up. If you normally do decent runs, then the battery is probably nicely full so will sit for a couple of weeks just fine.

No need to "give it a spin" really unless you're going to go out and do a decent run. Most engine wear happens when the engine is cold so a short "spin" is just going to cause wear and provide no other benefit - indeed it'll probably leave condensation in the exhaust which isn't great. A decent run means everything gets thoroughly warmed up, oil gets everywhere, no condensation in the exhaust etc. Battery will be given a decent bit of juice too. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Disengaging and re-engaging the electronic handbrake is advisable every week or so.

Trust me, I speak from experience Big Cry Kev

Don’t put the park brake on, just leave in P. Visitor from fullfatrr.com

I always put the park brake on because my driveway is sloping. If I just use P, it puts excess strain on the gearbox which can be felt by a noticable clunk when moving out of P. All of my automatic cars have done this, so when parking I usually engage N, apply the park brake, release footbrake so the park brake takes the weight of the vehicle, then engage P. Kev

+1 ALWAYS use the Parking Brake the way Kev explains. As he says it protects the gearbox and exercises the parking brake mechanism- and if you don’t use it you lose it!

Definitely use it I had mine renewed after a few months of ownership purely because the previous owner had failed to use it.
