2009 sport, i get in turn the key and click... try a few times with the same result, eventually it will start no problem, Ive checked the battery all good, dont believe it is the starter? anyone got any ideas what to start looking for the problem?

Try swapping the relay marked SM in the box Under the bonnet

Do you let the glow plug light go out, I had this problem regards chris

yeah I always wait until the light goes out, but this happens hot or cold so cant be the glow plugs.

I swapped replay SM this morning and it made no difference I am now suspecting a sticky solenoid but not sure?

check the battery connections.
where the earth cable bolts to the inner wing. Check it isn't loose. (battery removal required)

Then yes, probably a new starter required

checked battery both under load and no load, all ok. I will check the connection on the wing under the battery today weather permitting.

removed the battery and checked the connection and all was ok, so I guess now the only thing left is the starter motor?

Or, have the starting circuit checked, before throwing parts at it

UPdate****well finally got under the car and the starter is dead... replaced with new and all ok now.

Some times its a bad connection on the starter motor just removing the contacts and cleaning can often cure it.. Bet you had fun changing that starter motor

it was an absolute pain in the butt... but changed now and all ok, hopefully I dont have to do that again soon!
