What's this connector

While fitting a permanent feed connector in the boot, I came across this connector down by the side of the battery tray. Can anyone tell me what its for. L494, car was bought new by me so its not someone else's addition which was then disconnected Confused

As it's used to limit some of the electrical functions during delivery/storage to conserve battery power not sure what else it could be used for if any, as the relay is physically removed by the dealer prior to delivering the vehicle to the customer, not sure you could even obtain a replacement relay if you wanted to store your vehicle for a period of time.

Cheers

Yeah makes sense I guess, just wondered more than anything else really I gues it just shut donw all the things that drain the battery that wouldnt be needed like alarm etc...

Just thought it could have been a option for some of the guys around the world who mothball the car over winter or if we have another lockdown! If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

As with many things JLR, there are several (incompatible) variants of transit relay.
They fit on a battery terminal. (initially the earth terminal I think, but now on the positive terminal)

What they do (on the older models) is completely isolate the battery until the ignition is turned on.
Therefore your remote locking does not work or clock etc.

So while they are good for when parked up for winter, you wouldn't want it fitted all year round.

Easiest solution, just buy a Ctek smart charger assuming you have a power supply where vehicle stored.
