EGR blanking MoT

Would somebody be able to confirm the very latest MoT rules and regs for EGR blanking. My search seems to give varying answers. Looking at fitting blanking kit and getting through it’s test in an ideal world. RRS 2006

Don't worry about it,im a mot tester & you can only test what you can see so as long as it passes the emissions test your fine.At the end of the day we arnt & cannot remove the egr to see if its been blanked off. Andy.

As far as I know, with yours being pre-2007, it doesn't need a software patch so straightforward; remove pipes, blanking plates on, replace pipes and remove the butterfly valve. People didn't used to replace the pipes, but with it being an MOT fail just replacing them will fool a cursory look. Of course, as per previous post, the tester can't remove the engine cover to check if everything is there but it's not much effort to make sure.

I've blanked them on my 2006 with a kit from Ebay. No issues at MOT, I did replace the original pipe work though so still looks like they're fitted. 2006 RRS HSE 2.7 TDV6 (The Baby one as I keep being told)

Strictly speaking, it's an MOT fail, as an emissions device has been altered

However, unless the pipes have been removed, it's almost impossible to detect if the blanking has been done Thumbs Up

I can see how it is easy to do this and fit the pipes over the plates at the bottom. But at the top...do the pipes fit over the blanking plates or do you not put any plates in the top and still have the plastic housing 'open' to the pipe so to say, just making sure its all sealed at the bottom end with an extra gasket?
