2012 SDV6 oil change

Hello all,

I looked on here, you tube and the D4 forum but cannot find the position of the engine oil extraction port.

Hopefully some of the members have used the port to remove the engine oil using a vacuum pump.

The only place you might be able to suck the oil out is through the breather pipe on the left side of the engine near the air filter box. But unless you have a very slim and flexible tube, you won't get to the sump as the breather pipe has a few bends in it.

Your best bet is to get down and dirty under the car to undo the sump plug (green pen on it)

The pipe mentioned is the way most garages extract the oil. I have done it numerous times and it gets 6 litres out without problem.

Buy yourself a 6 litre vacuum extractor and it should come with a selection of pipes one of which will fit over the extraction tube. it takes about 10 minutes to do provided the oil is warm.

Using the drain plug is also clearly an option but it will not get any more oil out and is a PITA to do.

Many thanks for all your replies. I’m going give the extraction method a go. It would only make sense to me go the sump plug way if the oil filter was down below as well.

Hello all, the vacuum method is definitely the way forward. 30 minutes from start to finish.
