I've only had this range rover for just over a month, previous car a disco 3, the car dealer told me that the antenna was in the side windows. Anyway I got my steps out and on the roof is just a coloured bung no shark fin. I asked a mate to give me a hand, and we pulled the rear head lining down and found that the coax cable and power leads go to the tail gate spoiler! Left head lining down and drove to my local lr dealer. After a lot of head scratching we decided to reenstate the shark fin and wiring, and update the sat nav for 200quid and go from there.
I'll let you know what happens next week.

Well done, there is no way a GPS antennae would be vertical on the glass, it is trying to see the satellites and would be on the roof.
The window "wires" are for the radio.

They are "active" units and need power, they then send the position data to the head unit in the car.
The generic units are on Fleabay and will connect using the fakra connector.

Read Flacks PDF that is available to explain how to do it.

So is the car 2013 late L320 RRS1 or a early 2013 L494 RRS2? because if it's a L320 the power cable and coax lead to the rear spoiler will be the reversing camera.

Cheers

Is the car a HSE or SE as I don't think all SE's had navigation fitted and perhaps someone has retro fitted it, not sure but could be a possibly, as strange why roof antenna would be missing, unless of course it has previously packed up.

Really strange, should have dual view if black edition as well, hopefully fit new aerial and will be back in business little fiddly to replace aerial but the headlining does flex enough without dropping it to far, unless you have hands the size of a shovel Laughing

Cheers

Right then, got car back from or yesterday, still not got a fully working sat nav.
1 .anntenna working
2. power to and from antenna ok
3. chassis module ok(controls all sorts of things,cd,radio,TV,sat nav).
4. Head unit faulty, flash drive failure.
Sat nav operating system ok, storage of sat nav map files ok,but the SSD flash drive which stores things like previous destination, location, favourite places you input etc are lost when you switch off the ignition due to a fault in the SSD controller. The sat nav keeps going back to Belgium because that's where the software is made and is a default built in to the system.
Switch on the ignition, wait a few minutes and the sat nav says welcome to Great Britain and works perfectly until you switch off the ignition again .
Cost of new head unit....1500 pounds plus fitting @120 pounds per hour, plus Vat!!!?!!?!
Now have new Garmin GPS free lifetime mapping 99 pounds all in.
Cost of new antenna and lead plus investigation of fault 457pounds inc Vat!!!?!

If your sat nav goes belly up ,be prepared to spend big, even second hand units are very expensive.
I hope you have found this useful. There is no quick fix that I can see. Many thanks for your help.

That’s as per TECHNICAL BULLETIN LTB00642v3 mentioned on page 1. Second hand IAMs are £100 to £200 for the 12/13 MY but a MY14 to 16 should work.

And an IAM replacement is about 20 minutes and involves 6 screws. 2012 5.0 SC AB
