cheers for replies lads, the surface charge is interesting this would probably be why it showed 12.6v all day then when connected to the car dropped to 10.4?

new battery is on the cards just wanting to make sure it is only the battery and i dont have a drain on the car as well, most my journeys are short as well so i think ill get a ctek charger as well. im also away for 2-3 weeks at a time so it will be neccesary then i think.

As well as AGM you should also consider a higher CCA battery if your car sits outside all winter, cold weather has less effect on high cold crank amps batteries when you are starting up. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Doesn't need AGM. Standard battery is fine. Go for something 100Ah 900A.

Yuasa silver from Halfords gives a 5 year warranty. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

ive read that it would be worthwhile getting an agm as i do a lot of short journeys, when reading up it seems a lot of the batteries are higher cca than what was fitted as standard so hopefully ill be alright these are the teo im looking at currently buth same price 4 years guarantee etc

Fairly sure the RRS diesel needs a 019 battery, although the little engine versions might be 017, not sure. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
