Bit of technical help needed...new owner .

Hello Folks,

apologies in advance if these issues have already been addressed.
A search did not yield an answer...

I have 2 issues with my 2008 2.7 TD6 I just bought.

1. the horn is not working , i can here a relay clicking away in the centre console but thats about it..and in fairness it worked the first day i had it ( last saturday ).

2. the heated seat is not working on drivers side..passenger and 2 back seats work fine.
if i had any idea which jack plug was for this function , i suppose i could check for voltage...thats where my skills begin and end.

any help with these issues would be much appreciated.

The drivers heated seat is likely to be the element in the heating pad, there are 2 one in the base and one in the backrest, I took a chance and ordered the seat base one and replaced it, all good now. I replaced the foam base at the same time as the foam bolster was sagging. About £100 for the pair and an hours work . Nanocom Evo

i think theres a black multi-plug on the drivers seat behind the black plastic shroud.Just make sure that is securely fixed in place wiggle it and see if anything happens as i know they have a few issues with them not properly fixed together before you spend the money,i had a problem on the passenger seat and that is what it was Thumbs Up

There are 2 horns.

So either both have failed (quite possible) or another common factor (a bit unlikely if you can hear the relay clicking)

There is a horn behind the grill, which is an easy one to play with/fix.

The other is down by the coolant bottle I think

Hi Keith,

I'm a new owner too - based in Dublin. I picked up a fault reader last year in anticipation of a Disco or Sport. So if you need to read a code we can meet up.

Mines on 07 Sport HSE. Passenger side heated seat isn't working. No clue on the rear seats as I have the isofix seats in place.

Is that standard? I don't think I have (working) heaters in the drivers or passengers backrests. Merc C220 estate Sport AMG

I have replaced both bulbs in the front fogs and also checked the fuse..all good but not lights working.

when i checked the rear fogs , i can see no difference in the intensity of the red light....

the switch that does all of the lights with the pull function to operate front and rear fogs is the only thing i can think of that is common to both sets of lights .

i wonder if anybody has experienced both front and rear fogs failing ??

Not heard of any sounds more like you have a failed switch or it's unplugged at the rear of switch if there is someone close to you, maybe they will let you try there switch just to see if it work's with a different switch Thumbs Up

If they are heated on the seat squab the back rest should also be heated Thumbs Up

It's only in the lower part of your back rest and if one fails both stop working due to the way hey are connected Nanocom Evo
