I am considering a 56 plate 2007 Sport at 98000 miles..

Awaiting response on belt change but don't know whether this motor might be subject to the oil pump casing problem (ie is this a 2007my motor?

Yes it will come under the suspect Oil pump casing, the only sure way if you buy it is to get it changed.
