Just a quick bit of information.
The tow ball weight for my Jayco Pop-Top loaded came in at 140kg .Overall weight about 1400kg so 10% which is about right.
I know what IRBails was getting at, as I had the same problem getting a square input shaft the right length to fit the factory receiver. Most were either too short (tow ball too close to bumper) ,too long or the hole for the locating pin was in the wrong position. 2006 4.2 S/C with Tow Pack, Side Steps, DRL's, 19" & 20" wheels, additional 110 ltr Fuel Tank Roof Rack and performance mods.

I purchased the one for $45 on e-bay. Does fit and I think the length will be OK. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Interesting, as i have towed a 950 KG off road Camper and a 1.2K KG Camper trailer both on
sealed roads, off road and on the Peninsula Development road (PDR is gravel ) in Cape York
at speeds varying from 60 to120KPH and never had a problem, its been pretty rock solid..
even on the PDR .. a few occasions on the PDR the DSC switched in due to some soft gravel
on corners but otherwise had no drama's and we have the standard Tow hitch for Australia Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Yes but most modern hitches have a bolt that you tighten to stop any of this slack - I guess the LR hitch does not have this.

Also heavier tow weights normally mean less rattle.

Surprisingly quite in the tow , Ball height was a little low but did the job . For $45 vs $280 it was value for what I wanted. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

I think I know what the problem with the movement may be, as when I checked mine it was a little loose in the fitting into the receiver.
Any chance that the receiver being LR and the input being Hayman Reece that one is imperial and the other metric?????

They are all a little loose and rattle - nothing new there, that is why some receivers have a bolt you tighten to take the little bit of slack up.

All normal.

I towed my 2 ton twin axle caravan with I Mitsubishi Pajero for 6 months and towed great. When I bought my 2009 Range Rover sport and towed it with that it was a litlle scary at first as had a little sway and was a little more bumpy I think because of the air suspension. Now I get none of that after 12 months of towing it's as if the car has learnt and adjusted it's self . Sometimes it feels like the caravan is not on the back. My tow ball weight is 170kg and I dont use the swan neck tow hitch. I use the genuine square one which sits a little higher then the swan neck. And I tow around the south island of new zealand which can be a little bumpy.
