Thinking of purchasing facelift LED headlights to replace my 2006 AFS to complete a full facelift. My questions is, were all headlights on facelift models AFS spec?

No. Also bear in mind that the conversion with AFS lights has proved to be hit and miss (and no-one has been able to pinpoint the deciding factor) - you may find they won't work.  Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Yes, 'fraid so. The ECU communicates with the lights by LIN bus, and it seems some modules will communicate and others won't, and as yet, I don't think anyone has found the link as to why. The pre- and post-facelift models use differen't CANBUS bitrates, which means the ECUs aren't cross-compatible, so it's down to whether the lights work with the existing ECU or not.  Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Can only confirm LfW statements. I got Valeo 2012 headlights with AFS and try as I may the AFS doesn't work. On the other hand I think Peachy did a full conversion using OEM headlights on his 2006 and the AFS function worked. Go figure.... Truly hit and miss.

If and when I do fit the facelift AFS headlights, how will I know the AFS function works while the car is stationary?

Firstly, if not working you'll get an error and dash warning light illuminated. If it works when you turn on the ignition the headlights should do a little dancer alignment.
