Got an BMW E93 at the mo but with a new born on the way in the new year looking to maybe go down the RRS route as I've always loved then. The forum looks good so thought I would join up to get a better overview of all things ranger rover related.

Welcome guys.
When you say "remap", but then "tuning box", am I right to assume you mean a remap interface from the likes of BAS and Alive Tuning etc.? If you mean a plug and play tuning box, then please don't! 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver

Thanks Lostfor! I concur with the idea of staying clear of 'piggy-back' style tuning boxes from the research I've done in the past. However, a friend of mine has a thing called a P-Box on his BMW 1 series and it goes like stink! I think the MPG is pretty good too. It was recommended to him by a proper outfit who do Vauxhall & BMW tuning. I'd still avoid them though, just my two penneth... Had my 2003 BMW X5 3.0D remapped just after I bought it, and that made a noticeable difference to both power and improved mpg (32-33 overall). Does smoke like a pile of burning tyres if you clog it though cheers Simon |

Yes, they can work well, but one core issue, for instance, is if the ECU detects a fault and limits fuel etc. to prevent damage, the box will still be causing false readings, so you loose any safety net. |
