Sat nav update

I have a MY14.5 car - just over a year old. Does the sat nav database need to be updated? Anyone know how frequent the updates are and how to get them/cost?

Its £170 or thereabouts, and its not updated that often so check that it actually has some value before ordering.

Or buy a TomTom 6100 for about £250 which comes with lifetime free updates, live traffic and speed camera alerts. I run the two in parallel. Mark

I found the Waze app (both iPhone and Android) to be very good for navigation, up to date, live traffic info, etc and considering it's free looks like a no brainer. All you need is a good holder and a car charger.
