This is quite a common subject, if you do a search you will find lots of threads relating to this subject. The thing to remember is that a simple drain and refill only changes half the oil in the gearbox, a lot of people swear by a megaflush which will replace all of the old oil with new. I have had mine done and would recommend to anyone,,, go for some Dr tranny and a gearbox reset as well Thumbs Up 2010 RRS, TDV8

When you refill the oil has the car got to be level or the bottom of the tray?

The transmission must be between 30 and 35 degrees to ensure the level is correct. With the engine running (or you'll get a soaking), it's fill to spill. Thumbs Up

As mentioned, a full flush is the only way to change a good percentage of the oil (a single change is only about 40%).

Dr Tranny should only be used if actually required as it could mask faults later on. Consideration should also be given before a gearbox reset depending on fault codes and symptoms present. The TCM should also be cool when this is carried out. Wink

Not quite sure what you mean exactly by gearbox level or the bottom of the tray?

Keep the car on the level and you should be fine. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Sorry, when I come to refill the gearbox has it got to be level or have I got to jack the veichle up so the box or the bottom of the oil tray is level? Do you understand what I mean? Or do you you just refill as the vehicle is sat? Cheers dean

Car has to be level, note also that the oil temperature is important but you can search this forum for that information.

Ok, with the car level the gearbox will be running up slightly is that right? Or shall I put a level on the oil tray of the gear box and jack it up till that's level? Thank again dean

So, you need to get the transmission oil temp between 35 and 50 degrees. Doesn't take long to warm up.
Then with the engine running (yes, the engine running) undo the fill point on the side of the box. If fluid drains out (assuming you're on level ground) then you have too much, if t doesn't, then fill until it does. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi guys I've tried everything you've all said again today but no luck. It goes up the gears fine if you boot it. But if you accelerate slowly and go up the gears it keeps jumping back and for third and forth gears:/ then the transmission fault appears on the dash board.
