I hope Scotland achieve their independence if for nothing other than breaking the stranglehold the right-wing has over this island of ours.

Good luck to them I say, I just hope Scots do it for the right reasons, although I do find Alex Salmond a very odious man which I think is putting off some Yes voters...

I'm totally dismayed at the cost of all this nonsense to every tax payer in the UK.

Scotland need to escape the strangle hold of Westminster for sure! From working in the NHS in Scotland to now being in England it's crazy the different between them. Not going to be long before England is private, if only the true extent of what the hospitals are doing just now was public it would shock everyone. People do not get treatment if it is costly as money in now important that life! Pain management is being scrapped as people that are ill should feel pain why should they pay to provide pain relief! Completely sickening

Also as all my family are still in Scotland I really worry about what will happen in the event of a No vote. There is going to be severe punishment heading to the country and all these defo max promises will vanish.

Hope the BBC get severely punished for all there bias, editing and illegal activity with the bank announcement

If Scotland should become independent I wonder as a sovereign nation how taxing 6million people will be able to afford
1. free health care for all
2. Unemployment benefits
3 Child benefits
4 Postage across their whole country at a standard rate
5 Air traffic control systems
6 Build a central Bank with adequate reserves
7 A defence capability, I know they are claiming £15bn of assets from the UK but who is gone to pay training personnel and there will be about £5bn million per year to operate the kit. Who will police the 'Scottish' airspace against the Russian Bear aircraft I'm sure Mr Putin will enjoy playing games across the new un-policed air corridors and sending his submarines into areas around where the oil is supposedly located.

All this and loads more is supposedly going to come from Oil taxes - dream on!!

I worry that neither side has even dreamt of the real consequences but if the Yes vote wins the average Scot is surely going to be paying a very high price to learn

Good points drdelrrs. As for the defence issue, I think Salmond's idea is that he'll join NATO and we'll do it all for him at our expense.

The other stuff will presumably be paid for by the EU after Scotland joins the Euro... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

If I were living down south I would be much more concerned about what the YES vote will mean to you and the rest of the people living outside Scotland. I would be wondering why Mr Cameron and co have their knickers in such a twist about Scotland leaving the UK. He should be over the moon at the prospect, after all for generations goverments having been saying Scotland take more from the UK "pot" than they put in. The people up here voting Conservative are a minority. You think just maybe, Scotland has something the rest of the UK cannot afford to lose?Just a thought.

We know up here that Independence will mean some hardship for some years to come....but it tells you how sick to the back teeth at least half the population are up here of the way westminster runs the country......as far as we are concerned enough is enough......Westminster has made an arse of things for decades....we can make our own arse of things from sept 18 hopefully if the vote goes the way of Independence. 2010 RRS TDV6 3.0 Autobiography - Stornoway Grey
