The man is correct pull and hold the paddle. I think both can be used although I only tried the plus one on loaner. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈

I can't remember if you can do the '-' as well or not. Confused
Downside of pulling the '-' is that if you've knocked it and are in M2, it'll suddenley slam it into M1, the '+' would be a better option all the time I'd say, regardless of if the '-' works or not. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Quickest way is just to knock the gear leaver across into sport then back again, works for me if I catch the paddle with my hand on it at say a junction. You can of course pull on the + paddle to get it up a gear or two before composing yourself let it switch itself off after 10 secs or so. The handy thing is that it won't go into a gear it's not happy with so shouldn't over rev
Cheers
