the terms and conditions of the vehicle warranty'.

Where there is evidence that a vehicle has had an unauthorized power upgrade, authorized repairers should
send an email to ************** with known modification details and the VIN number of the
affected vehicle so that a Warranty restriction can be applied and shown in DDW. In the event of related vehicle
faults, customers should be advised to contact the vendor of the vehicle, supplier of the power upgrade or be
advised that they will incur repair costs.

Authorized Repairers must not be in any way be involved in the promotion, marketing, or installation of such
unauthorized power upgrades. Evidence of upgrade is almost impossible to conceal, even when original
equipment is refitted following unit failure. Any major unit failures suspected to be resulting from unauthorized
power upgrades will be thoroughly investigated and warranty payments will be withheld or withdrawn as
appropriate.

Bluff and bluster! Most manufactures can't detect well written codes nor power boxes that have been removed. Believe me, they tried that on with first TDV6 after gearbox failure then had to admit with red faces, that there was a wiring loom failure. Easy way of scaring folk, but even knowing the car had been mapped, they couldn't find the software mod in the ecu even after removing it and checking it at Gaydon. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈

That maybe be true, but they obviously have cause to send it out to dealers warning them

Say that they thought they was a remap, their the ones in the driving seat regarding repairing it under warranty or not

Agree its worth being cautious but they need to prove beyond suspicion to void guarantee as it is a legal agreement. Went through this with son's VXR Corsa when it lunched its engine at 18 months old. Vauxhall's get out was non standard brake pads which had been supplied by their network as upgraded version. Ecu was eventually removed and checked but was standard map from factory as we claimed. After several solicitors letters, a new engine was fitted under warrantee. I am sure it is common practice throughout the networks, to resist as many claims as possible.
A chipped or flashed ecu on early cars is software, I believe post 2009, to upgrade a land rover, you need to actually remove and open ecu which would be obvious at inspection let alone on road test. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Land Rover are missing out here with most modern day manufacturers offering a remap via their own approved tuning companies, All the German manufacturers have their own approved tuning companies. Land Rover need to catch up. We know our vehicles arn't performance cars as such, sports only by name, but as we all know, no two engines are a like coming off the production line and L/R have tuned a map for all. Little tweaks here and there can make one hell of a difference in the way our motors run. Would i risk my warranty? No. Would i have a remap by an authorised L/R dealer ? Too right i would.

They need to sort out reliability of the basic product before they mess around with factory tuning options! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yes, sort the reliability issues first, seems that they are using the maps as an excuse to cover up for their reliability problems

As Ady says, a lot of manufacturers offer their own performance enhancements and are fully warranted (BMW ///M Performance map for example). We all know that cars (whatever brand) are pulled back to very mid range tolerances as they have to suit all markets, especially in Europe.

...........but I think that's a long way off for LR I'd say  ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

The standard issue map is to make the engines conform to Euro5/6 and "reliability" rather than performance and economy. As most who have had vehicles mapped will tell you, they go better and do more mpg, I think I averaged 2 mpg more with V6 map 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
