Thanks Bobby - however the problem persists even when the switch is disconnected so I am a bit of a loss what else the issue could be.

The short could be in the unlock wiring circuit itself...meaning the short is unlocking the tailgate glass.

Yes - I agree but not sure how I would do that - maybe it is time to have an expert look at it but there are none local. There is a dealer but - hmmm - no thanks. 07MY RRS TDV6

I went out with the multimeter to start tracking the cabling etc but the problem has now gone - there are issues whatsoever. Having been driving around a bit and no issues - all very confusing. 07MY RRS TDV6

keep an eye on your battery this was the start of my problems after a while the tailgate stays shut but the problem drains your battery |
