United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Nara Bronze
Chip it?

Hello,

Last week we bought a MY10 RRS - metallic nara bronze and fully loaded with all the toys Smile

Its a 3.0 tdv6.

I was wonder if one day we were to chip it, if a super chip (or alternative) is the best option or one of those boxes that plug into the car and is easily removed such as www.chipexpress.com

I'm not bothered about all out performance, more interested in better response and better MPG.

P.S. yes I do drive the RRS like a nun - we bought it for safety (due to all the drink drivers around and people that drive like tw4ts) and also for practicality and we now have a dog.

Thanks

Paul

when I looked at the various options of re-mapping I eventually plumped for the interface solution.

This involves being able to upload a modified map and also reset to factory map at any time just by plugging it into the OBD port under the steering column.

A few mappers use this interface but from prior references I chose Bell Auto Services.

When I upgraded my D3 to a RRS I was also able to transfer and upgrade my map for a nominal fee.

The gains are quite noticeable, with throttle response and pick-up far stronger, and mid range torque is greatly improved over standard.

MPG has not been effected, in fact I'm looking at 1-2mpg more since the map. However if you use the extra power all the time you will notice the opposite!

The £600 price tag isn't everyone's cup of tea, but remember the interface will always be worth £200-300 to someone else (conditional to the map being taken off the car mind you) RRS gone

awd, the problem is that with the 3.0 litre you can't get the interface, its a bench job according to pete.

Plug in boxes lie to the car's engine management to force up the rail pressure to increase fuelling - not at all a robust way to increase power. Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

Maybe so, but that will not optimise the potential of the engine, they reajust some of the parameters of the of it although some people accept this as an alternative, but you can't get any better than a remap Thumbs Up
