Anyone changed a engine coolant bottle ?

hi guys ,
ive had the dreaded "low coolant " message ping up .. ie the old problem of the float eroding ,sinking to the bottom and giving a naff reading ... decided to take the plunge and change the bottle myself as it seems fairly straight forward ... only snag ive found is the lower hose doesnt seem to have any play so im having problems disconnecting from the bottle

anyone attempted this before or should i just man up and go to the stealers ? car out of warranty and despite a moan about this being a well known and frankly pathetic issue had no luck getting the matter sorted for nothing
