I have a major airlock somewhere in the coolant system any idea what I can do to solve the issue?

I had this with a BMW some years back and was told to keep filling the system and it will force the air out as you pour more coolant in there. The system i had used a breather overflow which i could hear the air hissing out as i poured more coolant down the filler neck.

It worked 100% for me.

I have tried this already by putting more coolant in and more water then bleeding the air.

I have bleeded the air for ages and its not helping as the airlock is not getting sorted, it seems to be that there is water frozen somewhere in the pipes as its not getting sorted

All you can do is get the car inside some where and warm the whole car up for a day or so and try again....

I have a similar issue with not having enough washer fluid in and I have no washers at the moment!! Not good in this weather...

But not as bad as yours could be.... Take care....

Harry, you do have the heater set to fully hot don't you ? In my (albeit limited) experience of bleeding the air from coolant systems the heater always had to be set to full hot, otherwise the systems not fully open.

If you already have then I'd have to go with everyone else that it's frozen up somewhere. Plenty more antifreeze needed. Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

Have you tried squeezing any coolant hoses you can access as this will help "pulse" the water through.

Are you 100% certain it is air and not a blocked rad or something?

Maybe you need to do the LR method of "Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding"  Malaysia Boleh!

I've kept the heaters on full whilst bleeding it whilst topping it up with water and bleeding the air.

Theres alot of air in the system.

The hoses are soft and not hard and I have tried squeezing them. The cooling system darining will not work i've been told, this is due if theres a blockage somewhere the ice would still be hard and wont melt by bleeding and I've been told that I may need to keep the car in a higher temperature in order for the ice to defrost.

I've also been told that the thermostat may be jammed but know one seems to know, hopefulyl i have someone coming out to take a look at it and provide a solution or do something about it!
