Creaky tailgate - advice on adjustment anyone ?.

After a month of ownership my 2005 S/C still suffers from a creaky tailgate (i think its this) when i go offer speed bumps etc. I have tried adjustment of the rubber bushes by moving them out to the extent where closing the tailgate became affected and then moving them in almost as far as they will go and the creaking continues Crying or Very sad

Anyone else have this and get it sorted ?.

Can anyone with a relatively new RRS or one that is nice and quiet tell me how the rubber bushes are set at each side by perhaps measuring them from the painted surface accurately and commenting on how the tailgate fits against the lines of the rear lights please ?.

I currently have my bushes wound almost all the way in and the tailgate closes beautifully (was horrible and bounced closed when the bushes were wound out) and the tailgate sits slightly recessed against the lights as you run your fingers vertically down the joint between light & tailgate.

I'm going to grease everything up next to see if that's it.

Could the rear seats be creaking perhaps ?.

Any help most appreciated.

Thanks

Carl

Hi Carl,

Had the same problem.
Adjusted the stops so they stuck out a little more and put two pieces of velcro (the soft part) on each side of the tail gate lock (see pictures link).
That solved my problem pretty good!

No dealer assist or LR parts required, so buying LR pars is not necessary!!!!!

Good luck. SW

I had exactly the same creaking noise on mine, after trying all the usual fixes without success I noticed the spoiler was out of alignment and was just rubbing on the side of the roof panel. it was an easy adjustment, I just had to remove the spoiler 4 screws I think they were all "Torx" then loosen the upper tailgate and re-align. This fixed the creaking completely, the car is now silent!!

Im going to buy some velcro tape of eBay and give that a try. When i push down on the lower tailgate with the glass open it creaks exactly like the noise im hearing.

Fingers crossed.

Worked perfectly.

I bought a thin strip of velcro tape off eBay and applied it and the creak is gone now. Very happy with the outcome, than you to everyone on here for their help.
