Having been a subscriber to LinkedIn for a few years and found it very useful are there any other members who are subscribers and if so do they wish to link up with other RRS forum members?

I won't set up my own account because I think that there is a lot of exaggeration in the profiles.

A bloke I work with has his profile on Linked In. He cuts and pastes proposals together for customers. But when you read his Linked In profile you would think that he had direct management responsibility for the company's commercial business worth $billions.

In reality, the guy is a bit of a goose. Linked In let's you be who you want to be with insufficient checks and balances to weed out the BS merchants. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6
Gone - 2009 Buckingham Blue RRS 2.7 TDV6

Gone - 2017 Chawton White RRS 5.0 V8 Supercharged
Current - 2010 Java Black RRS 5.0 V8 Aspirated

I think he cant have many connections as they would know he is a Bull *******, you cant really lie in your profile on LinkedIn and get away with it.

Chris - Think the big benefit is to seek out all the forums that may be pertinet to your business and also local for networking. One that i am in is The Yorkshire Mafia, 4000 members and geared to social events, networking Yorkshire businesses to do business with Yorkshire based companies.

Noticed your industry and you may be subscribed to this group http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=85890&mostPopular= if not worth joining. Also another which a friend of mine is involved with http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=2020972&mostPopular=

Once you get into it i am sure you will find it very useful but as they say you only get out what you put in.

That is what i thought two years ago but it helped me secure a position and in turn lead me to a £70K order, so not a bad return for a little bit of work.

There are two types in my view... Those that lie, and those that exaggerate.. I've easily uncovered exaggeration in traditional paper CV's when interviewing, so as long as you conduct the same due diligence you should be able to work out those to believe... and if you don't believe them don't link them and don't provide a recommendation!
I know a guy who in 10 years in an org was acting CEO for the 9 months before he left.. His profile now shows just one role for his ten year stint "CEO".. go figure!

Yes I'm on it too, got there after a couple of invitation from friends in the same line of work, but I do not use it much, should do more. '08 RRS TDV8
I converted my diesel RRS to run on an environmentally friendly mixture of caribou fat and baby seals oil
