For the last 25 years I have always changed the angle of washer jets onto the windscreen by sticking a pin into the jet to adjust until the desired angle is achieved.

Now on a 3 week old RRS I find that perhaps this method may not be ideal as now have the end of a broken pin stuck in washer jet blocking it completely with no obvious way of removing it. Perfect time of year to be a jet down

I guess a new jet will need to be installed but thought I would share my ineptitude with the rest of you so you may not "enjoy" the same mistake.


Out of interest, what methods do others use to make this adjustment?

I don't know how to re-adjust them but I have found that since my car was serviced 3 weeks ago the furthest left (looking from the drivers seat) no longer hits the middle of the screen in front of the passenger and is aimed at the top left of the screen and sprays over the A pillar and roof instead of the screen................. would love to know the answer

I am not sensing too much empathy here... I know an amount of ineptitude was included but there was also a certain amount of bad luck.....

Oh well, will have a look once more next weekend then if no luck will get it booked into the workshop.

I thought (hoped) that one of the dealers or technical specialists that frequent this place may have suggested a better way to make this adjustment.

The jet holder isn't iced up is it Simon? Provided it wasn't a stainless steel pin, have you tried using a magnet to remove the broken off bit ? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

what about a cordless drill and a 6mm HSS bit, may use a bit of water after and you will need to keep filling bottle up  purple people eater

using a pin, even on heated nozzles! One suggestion is to use a needle that you have rubbed on a magnet to get the broken pin out. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I had a similar problem. On on investigation it is just simply that the mechanism for moving the
nozzles can be extremely stiff. I eventually removed the whole nozzle assemby from the car ( very easy to do, just unclips under the bonnet) and carried out the adjustment on my work bench rather than on the car. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black
