SM if the RRS is in access mode then yes it's normal. If it's normal height you might have a problem. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

You need a bit of grease on the bump stops, lots of info on the D3 site with photos if you do a search. |

On full lock there is a cast bump stop that the steering hits, if there is no grease on it you get a grinding noise as metal is on metal.

Had the issue ELD70 describes before, and only a couple of months and 2k milesafter being serviced.

Thanks for the extra info - I'm really struggling to visualise this - bump stops on earler vehicles would just be a touch point with an adjustable bolt and so wouldn't create a grinding noise. Anyone got a photo? |

as I thought, it was in access mode. When reversing off my drive and steering the car it hasn't reached normal height, .... so problem solved ... thanks for the advice! |
