Transmission Fluid

Interesting chat with the local LR specialist when they serviced the Sport yesterday, they recommend changing the Automatic transmission fluid and diff oils at the next major, which will be 96K KM's. They have seen on some of the D3's that at around 80K's its looking pretty yucky, and they question the sealed for life policy or 240K KM's or 10 years that LR claim. D3 crew in ANZ seem to be also subscribing to the theory change it sooner rather than in line with the LR schedule.. seen to improve and smooth gear change etc..

Anyone heard anything similar, or looking to change before the LR subscribed date Question Its not cheap, the Automatic fluid cost $80 per litre Shocked Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Plenty on the DISCO3 site about changing the autobox fluid, higher mileage D3s were suffering from driveline vibration/shunting which a fluid flush sorted out.

The major cost is the fluid, which is Censored expensive, and a lot of it goes to waste during a flush Sad Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

Seems to make sense Martin and confirms what i heard as well, I will most probably look to change out on the next B service.. Along with the belts, ... Or maybe chop it in before then Whistle

In terms of volume i have heard everything from 5 to 9.5 litres Question

Got this off of one of the D3 posts http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic30867.html?highlight=atf

Auto transmission: Shell ATF M-1375.4 Fill for life. Refer to GTR for top-up procedure (roughly 5.5 litres but ~18 litres required for 'double flush' plus sump pan inc filter - approx £65 plus ATF @ £20/litre

Going to be bl00dy expensive either way Shocked Another Pommie Bar Steward down under
