SP,
1. In February 2007 a TSB was issued regarding "Steering Gear Noise". Vehicles with 20" wheels were affected, Vin-range 5A901924-5A904376. The noise was attributed to the hydraulic oil passing through the steering gear damping valves.
Action - Renew the steering gear damping valves (steering gear damping valve repair kit QFW500030).
2. In July 2007, a TSB regarding "a squeaking noise from the bulkhead area when turning the steering wheel". This was attributed to "power steering fluid contamination".
Action - flush the steering system with fresh fluid and renew the steering gear and reservoir.
3. In October 2008, a TSB affecting Diesels (Vin-range: 900302-167471), RHD gasoline (Vin-range: 900109-167471) concerning "squeak from the steering column area on rotation of the steering wheel". The cause was "the power steering pinion seal lacks lubrication and dries out".
Action - Add the specified PAS fluid and additive to the power steering system and operate the steering to lubricate the pinion seal. Malaysia Boleh!

I sometimes have the sqeeking too, but it is very, very quiet I almost can not hear it. I never thought about it being a possible problem but now after you mentioned it I recognized when the car was in the garage a few weeks ago that the steering fluid is a bit low.
I told them to fil it up and never checked it. Perhaps I'll have to have a look at it and give them a friendly call...
Well, after all I shouldn't care, I still have warranty for another 50tkm and 2 years from them. If they are too stupid to fill up some fluids they may pay new steering racks or whatever can become broken...
