Onsite today at a project I've been working on for two years - responsible for the entire electrical, AV and automation system - I have been developing the Lighting scheme also (first time for me instead of having a lighting designer) - the house will be 100% lit with LED lighting.

rupert - the key is they are all RGB so we can play with the colour temps (warm/cool etc) - the vivid colours are only for fun and maybe a party mode for the client |

btw, all of the downlights are 5W LED MR16's and GU10's - ended up importing them myself to get the best spec for the cost as most wholesalers LED lights are too pricey and too dull. |

How would they work out in replacing 20W tungsten MR16's in a landscape lighting situation. How does the 5W Led compare output wise ? |

each light source you can see on the strip are 3 LED's in one housing (RGB) - works very well. We have them in the Kitchen Utility (under unit lights) - perfect match for T5's - plus only 2W per strip.

Dom - most of the readily available ones are crap - I agree. Most quoted outputs are wrong - took me over a year to find the best ones Last edited by Kaine on Wed Feb 04 2009 8:09pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I'd be interested in finding out more about the led RGB strips & the led MR16's Kaine. Sounds just like what I'm looking for. Last edited by Rupert on Wed Feb 04 2009 8:14pm. Edited 1 time in total |

the advantage for this project has been the ability to plan for using LED lights and developing an overall lighting scheme - the advantage is 200 downlights running max 1kw which is a massive energy saving. If you just replace existing light fittings with LED's then it doesn't always work (I know this in case of my house) |
