United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue

RRS's are quite common in my part of the world, but they are all black or grey.

I decided to give my local dealer a shock and order a Buckingham Blue one!

I think it going to arrive in March, providing JLR keep the factory open...

Ireland 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Hi All,

Glad to be a part of this.

Let me begin by thanking you all for your selfless contributions which have enabled me to improve my driving experience.

I joined a few months ago after purchasing a 2006 Java Black TDV6 RRS on new Vogue SE 20", Alpaca and a Kahn quad exhaust.
During the past 2 years I've gone through: -
2002 E39 530d, 2005 Nissan Patrol LWB (big but horrible), 2005 LC100 (solid as a solid thing, but had a prob with turbo that nobody could resolve). Needless to say, I have been a one man slush fund for Irish car dealers. The reason for this fickleness is my incessant and painful craving for perfection.
Boy did I make a bad decision with the RRS in that regard. But what a car!
I've recently got the car back from the stealer for warranty work on the following: -

Knocking from rear:-
When driving at low speads over rough terrain, I can hear a hollow sounding knocking coming from the rear of the car which is getting worse over time. This has crept in over the past 1000km. I am also starting to 'feel' the noise through the floor of the car.

what the stealer said: - replaced ARB bushes on 4 corners
My thoughts: - ahhh, no more knocking

Driveline shunt: -
When slowing to a crawl at ramps etc and taking my foot off the throttle, when reapplying throttle, the transmission slams into gear resulting in a mild to severe shunt depending on how much throttle is applied. In order to minimise the shunt, it can take several seconds to very gently apply throttle during which time the car can roll to a complete stop. This doesn't happen from a standing start with brake previously applied.

What the stealer said: - We've updated the software, please drive carefully for 200 miles.
My Thoughts: - Some improvement but still shunts - not happy

Rear passenger doors not opening: -
The locks on both the rear doors (not tailgate) are not always opening. This was originally only happening with the rear passenger side but has started to occur with the rear driver’s door also. I can get the doors to unlock from inside the vehicle by applying light outward pressure to the lock on the door panel as the unlock button is pressed on the dash.

What the stealer said: - replaced locks
My Thoughts: - They certainly sound different when locking and problem hasn't reoccurred

Compressor noise: -
The air suspension is extremely noisy when the car is being raised and far noisier than other RRS's or D3's that I have been in.

What the stealer said: - brackets broken, cough up
My Thoughts: - :censored:

Tailgate rattle: -
The tailgate is making noise when driving over ramps etc. I can stop this by applying a small piece of rubber between the plastic surfaces that touch each other at the centre where there appears to be a rubber buffer at the lockplate (main tailgate door) so that the plastic surfaces are not rubbing against each other.

What the stealer said: - we've modified it
My Thoughts: - looks exactly the same to me - even left the rubber pads on, still, it's been quiet for some time.

Seatbelt warning: -
The seatbelt warning buzzer is coming on from time to time even though there is only the driver in the car with seatbelt applied. I can stop this by applying pressure to the surface of the front passenger seat.

What the stealer said: - we've fixed it
My Thoughts: - remains to be seen (heard)

Front wipers dragging: -
The front wipers drag across the screen especially in cold conditions. I can stop this by applying rain-x type solution.

What the stealer said: - it happens
My Thoughts: - can’t wait for the Valeo X-TRM wipers to arrive

Rattle from passenger side front headlight lens at idle: -
as per description.
What the stealer said: - we took it out and tightened a bracket
My Thoughts: - haven’t checked it but have no reason to doubt them - yet...

Need to keep increasing the temperature setting to keep the cabin warm while driving:-
as per description -
What the stealer said: - The heater warms the car up and cools it down - it's fine
My Thoughts: - to**ers

Exhaust lower on one side: -
The driver’s side exhaust appears to be hanging considerably lower than the passenger side
What the stealer said: - nothing
My Thoughts: - will fix it myself, I think the tailpipe just needs to be turned slightly

I've also purchased the switchable remap solution from Imran and love the difference it has made. I'll post separately on that.

On a different topic, I bought me car from 'Derek Burton 4x4' in Co. Wicklow, Ireland. They are wonderful and really know their stuff. They re not a main dealer but arranged for the warranty work to be done at such a garage. I'm happy enough with the main dealer which was Spirit Motor Group in Sandyford, Dublin. Didn't get a lender though.

That's it for this post.

Cheers all !!!
