United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black

V.A I agree that the X5 is probably not without its faults but its the nature of LR's negative approach to customer relations. No stock on a part for 10 days, to me that is a joke. Please dont think I have blinkers on and all other cars (not only the X5) are without their faults but when something marketed as "robust" as a RRS fails because of falling temp's of late this shouldnt cause a malfunction. My dealer has a number of cars so this isnt a isolated problem, much like the famous knocking noise.

I am just a little upset Big Cry

Yep, all fair enough and there have been a few on here over the years that have held a similar opinion and gone back to BMW. It's not just LR, this sort of thing tends to happen across all marques - just unfortunate when it happens to you Sad

Absolutely true, but to be honest no other make is so outrageous or unorganized or whatever you may call it that you have to wait 10 days (or even some weeks as it has happened to various members in the German forum) for spare parts! Evil or Very Mad I'm sorry, but a good car maker should have ANY spare part available within 24 hours. For all my past cars (Audis, Mercedes, etc.) it was usual that any spare part ordered by the dealer before 10 am was delivered before 5 pm, even a whole engine or transmission could be delivered the same day!
I can remember when Volkswagen installed a new big storage for their spare parts there were a lot of mistakes and some people had to wait for two weeks for their spare parts, all the motoring press was almost eating Volkswagen up and everybody laughed at them! Shocked For a LR owner it seams quite usual to wait for any spare part one or two weeks. Confused

Luckily it didn't hit me yet, my RRS works brilliantly! Cool And even if I had to wait 4 weeks for spare parts that wouldn't bring me back to buy a BMW or Mercedes or whatever, that's for sure Very Happy , but I still think it is kind of weird how long it takes Landrover to deliver certain spare parts and all they keep telling you is "any other cars may have technical problems, too." I agree, internet has raised our paranoia on everything... Back in the days problems about things we bought were the same, but there wasn't a place where they all come together...

That's true for sure. My brother who doesn't like the internet very much and who doesn't read any forums has a 15 year old car with almost no problems, when something breaks he goes to the garage without thinking of it a lot. Rolling Eyes
Me, driving a 3 year old absolutely trouble-free car, I just paid a more money for a two-year warranty I will perhaps (and hopefully) not need at all than he payed for repairs during the last four years. Rolling Eyes Reading that much problems in forums really seems to make me some kind of paranoid. i think its unfortuantely an occurance that will become more and more common. All the dealers are keen to kepe their stock levels as low as possible, for reasons of space, stock taking and most of all cashflow - you can't buy as much when all your cash is tied up in spare parts on the off chance that someone might need a replacement rear seat. The dealers have pushed the stock problem back to the suppliers who weren't quite sure what to do so just sat with all the stock and this allowed th dealers to get the parts in 24 hours. After a while these suppliers realised they had the same issues as the dealers did and pushed the stock back to their wholesalers and so the whole problem continues. The main manufacturer has so many parts to make now and the production lines are so automated that it doesn't make sense for them to change all the tooling over to start making a part that someone is deperate for when they have just started a run of producing 200,000 of something else. Its not just an issue that LR have its an issue that all manufacturers seem to have.

That's exactly what LR and LR dealers keep telling me but it is just not my experience. In my experience delivery of spare parts has even become better and faster with other manufacturers (i.e. the German ones which I have some experience with). Their dealers almost have no stock at all (except for some small or very often needed parts) but can order them and get them the same day. Trust me, they do. I wwish I could say it was the same here but i've had to wait for parts from LR, BMW and Merc. The only manufacturer that I've never had a problem with is Vauxhall. 2005 TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver Ebony Interior Sunroof, RSE, Side Steps

Going back to the original post, LR have got the part in 3 days not 10+ as quoted. As I am in a LRA car that is costing them £47 a day this might have something to do with it!
Perhaps its the case of "shout loud enough" and its amazing what turns up quicker?

I actually used to live on the same street as the service manager when i was a kid and that also may of helped!

So they now have my car and the part but no spare man hours to get it fixed, lets see if my car gets priority as i said above I am costing them money in the LRA car>>>

To be continued...

Glad they are sorting it out for you slightly quicker than planned - out of interest what car did you get from LRA? The first time I called them out (for a suspension fault on my Disco 3) they tunred up to recover the car and tried to leave me a Micra !! cue an annoyed phone call to LRA, ever since then they have always provided LR products just wondered what they use now 2005 TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver Ebony Interior Sunroof, RSE, Side Steps

Jambo, funny you should ask - They use Enterprise now so in theory you could end up with anything, however I asked for like for like and got an 08 disco Whistle

LR called, my car is in the workshop today, happy days!
