bcp

just been on the BWEA site to see my average wind speeds around here, plus have an anometer in the office so might rig it up for a few weeks at least to see the results (on a big pole Wink )

Realising I need to look at all the options

Thanks for your post

Kaine

yes you do. I planted the seed with my few neighbours over the last weekend by asking them about their bills - fortunately all four neighbours are not happy with the increases in their bills so may be persuasive to the idea of a mast if I go that route

So would you be looking to supply each of the properties from the one turbine or would that not be suffice? I guess if everyone chips in, everyone can share in the benefit.

I'd like to get a small turbine as a trial - something I can rig up very cheap - I can manage the installation and connection so should keep the costs down - average wind speed around me is 5.5 to 6 m/s so not that high. Have an Anemometer, so will be setting it up at the weekend to check speeds.

The average wind speed around here depends on whether we had a curry last night or not.

I guess you're right......I'll do it for free - never done wind turbine before, would be good to get one under my belt so to speak....you just pay for my expenses for the site visit eg petrol etc...
