Blackberry 8100 Pearl issue

My Blackberry Pearl will only download 3/4 of the address book using bluetooth. My Nokia 6230i downloads the lot using bluetooth.

Can anyone help?

Supposedly the 8100 is fully supported by the LR PTI system - the tested version of the Blackberry software is v4.2.0.51. Is this what you have - or newer/older?

I'll do some research. My suspicion is that the software differs from LR specification.

Hi,

Have downloaded and installed 2.2.0.39 with 4.2.0.67 This is the authorised version:

Tested it and it failed to download the full phone book.

According to the latest (granted, nearly a year old) approved phones list - the tested Blackberry version is 4.2.0.51 as above... alternatively, you are potentially into a dealer visit to have your BT module upgraded.

Thankyou. I have examined most of the download sites. It seems difficult to find 4.2.0.51.

Can you help?

Tim tried his B lackberry yesterday and as long as the phone book was in the phone memory then it all got downloaded, anything on the sim card was ignored, it was the same with his motorola phone and it would only read the phone memory.

I had a look at the same thing on my 6230i and it downloads both phone memory and sim memory Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

Dear Alicatt, My phone book has over 300 hundred entries in main memory. However it remains that the 6230i will do the job, but the BB 8100 will only download approx 250 entries.

Think Tim has slightly less entries than that! I'm just going on what we were discussing on saturday evening with our cars/phones. Don't know how many entries I have in my 6230i but it does complain of not enough memory for more entries.
I havn't used a Blackberry for about 3 years now and really don't want to be in the position of having to have one again, retirement is great even if it is only semi Whistle Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

I only have about 75 numbers in my 8100 and V3i. If your Blackberry is showing all the contacts then they should be transferred over to the LR by B/tooth. On your B/Berry try the following:
On main menu screen select the address book and all your contact appear
Click the menu key to the left of the "mouse" ball
Select Sim Phonebook and copy to phone
Then click on the Blackberry menu key again and select Copy All To Addressbook and click the mouseball.
Now go to the car and pair the phone and car
Press the Phone key on the radio
Press the menu key
select address book
scroll through the numbers and check if they have all gone over.

Hope this helps - it worked for both my V3i and the Blackberry. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks Tim,

My BB has 399 nos. and none are in the SIM. As written earlier, the interesting piece is that my Nokia 6230i transfers the 399 nos. using bluetooth to the RR Sport and all are available. The BB gives up the ghost at around 250. It is a BB problem rather than RR problem I think, given the facts above. By the way for the sake of clarity, if I remove the SIM from my BB, all my Contacts are still available.

Hope you can help further.

250 seems a suspiciously round number. I wonder if for some reason, the transfer process from the Blackberry only accommodates 250 items? I would think that your dealer probably wouldn't be able to find a solution to this so it maybe worth emailing LRCS (lradvice@landrover.com) about it and seeing what they have to say... might also be worth posting on a Blackberry forum about it?

The question to the forum should be:

1. Do you have a Blackberry 8100?
2. Do you have more than 250 items in your address book?
3. Does it work with your RRS?

Thumbs Up

Have downloaded the latest Desk Top Manager ie 4.3. The system stops at item number 284 interestingly when connecting via bluetooth to my RR Sport.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem.

Hi,

Been awhile, the problem remains and Landrover have acknowledged the issue. They tested other Blackberries and they exhibited the smae behaviour. No news yet but expect sone news in January.
