I thought I was older than 10 when I watched her being towed down the Clyde, My father was at the launch but he wasnt allowed to take the kids with him so we had to watch from afar. Got a row in school the next day for taking the day off to watch it ![]() |

My dad served his time with Denny's ship yard as did his father ..... all the way back to 1730ish when Denny first opened. I was in the Vale academy when the QE2 was launched, I never got any punishment or that as the rector was at the launch with my dad |

Al the 1st school I went to in Scotland was Croftamie School while our house in Drymen was being built. We lived in the house at Drymen Bridge throughout the build period. Croftamie School is the only school I went to where the lads wore skirts as the school uniform....... I was there from November 1963 till summer 1964, the winter that Loch Lomond completely froze over.
