If the water was as deep as 6ft then even a Land Rover would have had a problem without some serious mods to aid watertightness and engine breathing! Standard Defenders need a raised intake and gearbox and axle breathers to go into water more than 500mm deep without doing some very expensive damage. Been there, incurred the expense of destroying two rear wheel bearings that became water-lubricated instead of grease lubed - LR doesn't use waterproof grease in it's cars!! |

I should have added the £5's worth of aquarium pipe that everybody told me afterwards was what I needed!! Would have saved me £400 in repairs........................... or I could have avoided going into the deep wading special stage but then that wouldn't have been so much fun as having water up over the bonnet. At least I remembered to close the underscreen vents unlike a couple of folks who ended up with fould smelling stagnant water inside their cars! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
