FORD's All RANGE ROVER Strategy

What do you think ?
2 new models Laughing Laughing
Range Rover Coupe
"A new, sportier, four-seat model could be a two-door (like the Range Stormer concept, left) or a slope-roofed four-door, but with swoopier styling."
Land Rover LR3
"Its replacement won't be as tall, heavy, or thirsty. It also will ditch the Land Rover name in favor of Range Rover County."
and all on a universal alloy base/es shared with Jaguar models ? With hybrid drive axles Shocked

The BOSS would have to start a sub forum and
we'd have to live with the tarmacs Big Cry Big Cry

Yeh It's all highly speculative but it does follow a certain logic namely:
Ford need to rationalise Land Rover and Jaguar by sharing much more between the models.
This strategy would allow them introduce the Jaguar (Australian ) patented aluminium production process into say 3 different chassis/floor plan/base units with a shared selection of engines and hybrid axle/trans axle units.
Onto these they could graft various bodies and trim levels, branding them appropriately.
The different engine/drivetrain characteristics would be handled by different computer maps for engines and transmissions.

The bad news is that the Defender range would be no more. Big Cry

Although the original concept looked good, I think in reality it wouldn't work.... they'd effectively be creating a brand new vehicle type - I can't think of anything else out there that exists that would be of a similar nature and LR aren't know for embracing that kind of risk.
