So just to be clear Johnski are you saying L/R warranty no longer covers the items you listed above? I have just had my renewal through for the end of the month and I haven't noticed these changes!! Sad 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

Chris - I've done a lot of research for when my 2 year LR approved one is up and I'll be doing the WD route. LR = no wear and tear; WD = cover wear and tear. Plus its cheaper and covers more...!
I have compiled a target list for what I want etc.
Lots more info disco3 forum than here Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Orkney Grey

interesting reading this.

I've always considered 3rd party warranties to be a waste of money based on all the horror stories Ive read (+ i've not recently had a car that's not been covered by manufacturers warranty, being mostly new and company owned).

But is seems that it might be worthwhile to have a warranty, even one costing several hundreds of ?

As ever, its an insurance policy and depending on your approach to risk then some folks want it and some don't see its worth it. Personally, whilst mine is still under finance then I'm going to get another 2 years but via WD and not LR. I reckon the WD one will be 50% cheaper so I've made my own risk assessment based on cover and cost.
WD seems the best all round but only after harsh haggling for cover level, exclusions and price.
Lots more info on disco3. Just search for "Warranty Direct"
Have fun making your mind up Thumbs Up
Come April my haggling will begin and will report back.... Rolling with laughter Visitor from fullfatrr.com

So under the assumption that you have to pay for european recovery on top of that price instead of having L/R assist, then if my car was in the dealership for say 2 weeks at the cost of a rental vehicle is it really a significant saving? 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

Well just putting it out there but if my car was in a dealership for 2 weeks i would get a free hire car with L/R assist. If i had to rent one at say 50 a day for 2 weeks thats a considerable sum on top of a warranty direct price! Whistle 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

Gents I hope you don't mind me jumping in here but,

I believe there are a number of approved Warranties by Land Rover. Now when my previous RRS had finished it's warranty from new Land Rover recommended me taking out an extended Warranty which would run immediately after my existing one run out and it would cover just as if I'd purchased the car from new again??!?!?! So EVERYTHING was covered as long as I serviced at LR and even cost of MOT's were covered. Has this changed and now things are not being covered such as wear and tear etc or am I talking about a different warranty to you lads???? Confused.com Shocked Question

I have never found a warranty policy which will cover cars over 100,000 miles.

Anyone found one? I don't think they exist Just bought a RRS 06 MY HSE TDV6 136,000 miles, to be a second car to my bland, boring Mitsubishi Outlander 68 plate 2.0 petrol 4

Hi

I have a warranty direct policy - had it for 3 years now. I was covered up to 120,000 with the suspension included.

My current WD policy covers me for the same parts as before, except that the suspension and aircon are no longer covered as I have gone past 120,000 miles - currently at 122,000 miles Very Happy

I believe it covers me up to 140,000 miles at present but would have to check the policy details to confirm this

The only stipulation they put, due to the mileage, was that you pay for 50% of the part cost, with all labour covered

Hope this helps

Alan
