Warranty Direct Quote

My Land rover extended warranty is due for renewal shortly and Just been quoted 767 for 1 year from Warranty direct for the extra care dealer labour charges , 50 excess and betterment clause removed

does this sound about right to any WD existing users on the forum ?

anything I should be concerned about using warranty direct

You have to haggle with them- you should be able to get them down to 650 for 13 months- I did and I can't haggle for toffee!

I found them very good- but just confirm you're covered for suspension issue and turbo. I got the wear and tear option too which covered ARBs

Hi- I had a 200 ph labour cap which was plenty- but I didn't have the betterment clause removed.

I've just had my renewal come through. This will be my third year with WD, and have not had a claim. This is not being reflected in the premium - they are asking 911. The annual haggle has made me consider going elsewhere, but WD do seem to have a good reputation, so will no doubt put up with it.

My renewal has just come through at 875, up from 655 last year although I've had no claims. They have also left off emissions & airbags that were included last year.

So frustrating that you have to go through the annual haggle. I guess they rely on the fact that some people will not bother and the policy will just renew automatically.

I bought my RRS from a non-dealership car sales business. Yes I know now that this was potentially a big mistake but I am where I am!

With it I got a 15 month warranty from The Autogroup at a cost of 470 for the 15 months cover according to the car sales slip. They have 3 levels of cover and my option was their highest level Ultimate Protection. I also got nil excess but a labour rate of just 60ph and total claims amount of 5000!

Ive just had some work done at the local specialist 4x4 Indie a new wheel bearing and front lower suspension arm (all covered by the warranty apparently) and left them to liaise with the warranty company. They had quite a battle by all accounts as the warranty company were only prepared to pay for pattern parts for the arm (under 100) when the price for the bespoke part was around 250. My Indie was concerned about the quality of the part they wanted him to install and he asked who would be responsible if it were to break. The warranty company said that it was down to the Indie! So, they choose the part he installs and if it fails its his fault not the warranty company! Catch 22! So, my Indie installed the proper part and I paid the difference.
Ive checked the small print and it clearly states that they will insist on:
motor factor pattern parts, reconditioned/exchange parts and in exceptional circumstances, with your permission, second hand parts can be used. Original Equipment components will only be approved if there is no alternative.
So, the moral of the story I guess is buy from LR dealer with LR warranty, or read learn and inwardly digest the full terms and conditions of the warranty before you part with any of your hard earned so that you know what you are getting! I didnt and it could come back to bite me! Robin

With Warranty Direct, what's the ideal cover? I'm not sure what a betterment clause is or what excess is normal? I have a 2010 TDV8 with 33,000 miles and am looking to get covered but am clueless as to what's a good deal...

The best cover with Warranty Direct, but still no cover for airbags and several other things, the quote for top of three types of Warranty I have been quoted 2199 for 4 years warranty. Watch out for the electric section, several ECUs fitted to a RRS are NOT covered. Let the haggling begin. Whistle

The new warranty to continue with LR is a complete joke. John

WD do not consider claim history. Renewals are at full up price. A phone call is needed to get a discount, but no haggling required, simply ask for their best price.

I now pay 680 across 4 x quarterly payments for Extracare Plus (over 6 years old but suspension included) with 100% labour up to 200 an hour and 80% parts with 50 claim excess. No airbag or EGR cover.

They paid out 2000 for me last year including a failed shocker absorber.... at this price it is great protection, I think. I doubt I will claim this year, but maybe next year? And great peace of mind in case something big goes snap. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

Hi,
and anyone who is going to take out a new policy, why not ask on here for anyone who already has a policy if they give you name and address or their policy number (by PM Rolling Eyes ) quote this at the end and it should give an extra months free cover for you and 20 for them
Give it a try
its there "recommend a friend" bonus

Thumbs Up

I thought he meant the price L/R charge to continue the warranty.

Sorry for delay in responding, yes the price has rocketed on renewal and several items are no longer covered, minor things like including all the HiFi, TV, Sat Nav, DVD, grills and covers, wiring too, etc. Lighting and wiring faults. That's just onething, there are some major items to, reduction for wear and tear, read full what's covered now when you get renewal. John
