Oh nice you got the facelift interior? I like that wood trim personally. I think you can get piano black replacement bits but they're pricey.

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Lux Sumatra Black

Just seen this thread. Well done OP, you've made the right choice!

I'm an ex X5 owner too having had the E53, E70 and F15. In the first one the suspension went at 80k miles, rear CV joints, transmission mounts, and needed the swirl flap delete. On the E70 the intercooler went but was otherwise a nice car. The F15 was just far too removed from the driving experience for me.

So despite the horror stories of the RRS we went for on 08 TDV8. Black with ivory interior and with 130k on the clock (128k when I bought it). Its got a good history, serviced on time, all the electrics work well and it appears never to have had any faults.

I wouldnt go back now. I LOVE it! The only problem is its got 21 inch wheels and the wife has kerbed them badly already! Censored

Enjoy your new car!

Hey Rag

Quick question. Is there any reason you went for the older RRS? I oils have thought that an F15 would have been a 13, 14 or 15 car. Did you think about a newer RRS? Asking because I am thinking of an upgrade to my RRS with an RRS2

Yeah it was a 14 plate but I really didn't like it at all.

In the end I chose an older RRS for a few reasons:

1) I didn't want any finance
2) I really dislike depreciation and RR's depreciate like a free-falling stone to a certain point
3) I like to service and fix everything myself, so I wanted a car that was out of LR warranty
4) It is an amazing amount of car for the money (see post 2)
5) If it all goes tits-up, the most I can lose is £15k or so, so not really much of a financial risk for me personally.
6) (probably most importantly) I wanted the TDV8 and I had a very limited supply of them near me.
7) It's my first RR so I needed to test the water before potentially getting a newer one

Now we've had it for a while I can see the attraction of the new ones. My Partner at work has just taken delivery of a 16 plate RRS SDV6 (i think). Whilst it is lovely inside and clearly that bit more refined, it really isn't much different to the one I have. Certainly not £30k+ different. Plus I shudder at the depreciation.

These cars are incredible value for money and for me its the best of the 4x4's I've had regardless of price. Thumbs Up

Evening Everyone!

So picked up the motor this morning after a long discussion with the seller - eventually getting another £500 off the price.

In short the car is in immaculate condition externally, mechanically it is A1 however being a perfectionist I wasnt 100% happy with the interior. The LCD screen has a very faint scratch on it that I need to repair or replace the screen.

It has absolutely shocking tyres on it (brand new but some budget Chinese make). Drives very well despite them being crap so will be looking to change ASAP. My lack of RR knowledge was there for all to see when I realised (on the way home!) that there isnt a bluetooth phone unit in the car!!!!! This was a huge shock as I just assumed all new premium cars had these as bare minimum!!!!!!

Having driven BMW's all my life I am struggling with the new functions, ie how to store DAB channels and basic stuff like that but on the whole I am happy. The drive is genuinely AMAZING!

Any hints and tips welcome guys!
