This is all fairly depressing and Lear opening a new plant in Macedonia is all about cost cutting, not about quality. I simply do not believe they will ever achieve the same level of quality as people like Recarro.

Say what you like about the Bentayga but the quality of the interior will be far higher than anything JLR achieve with the RRS and FFRR. LR need to up their game and use a better supplier. There are too many pictures of saggy seats which may be down to poor quality leather as much as anything.

I was at the launch of the facelift 991 Porsche 911s last week and the quality of the leatherwork was simply stunning. The Germans (and I include Bentley and RR as German-owned) and the Italians set the standard LR need to aspire to. Mark

A RRS starts at £60k ish, a Bentayga at £160k.

I would damn well expect to see a difference in interior quality for that £100k.

Lets compare apples with apples? MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Indeed, but the FFRR SVAutobiography (if that is what is is called) is intended to punch at the Bentayga level. If they are still using Lear for that model, they have their work cut out. Mark

I might hazard a guess that a different quality hide might get used on those.............. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Update on really ill fitting / sagging ivory leather seat covers (<4k miles)

Booked car into Dealers y/day for them to take to the specialist trimmers to have the leather seat covers steam shrunk, as arranged.

Service Mgr called me today to advise that apparently JLR now recommend wetting & drying the covers in the JLR workshop as a fix to the issue that they seem to be seeing quite a bit of (honestly!)

I'm sure there's plenty of you that are more world wise in the way of automotive wizardry, but to me this sounds like a recipe for disaster?!?

Picking the car up on Friday, hopefully it won't have gone too mouldy / rusty by then Censored

Think I would ask to see in writing the specific guidance/instructions before work commences. I heard from an LR independent specialist that there was a 17 page bulletin issued to the dealers advising of what was deemed acceptable or not on the leatherfront.. Some indication of the variable performance of leather under certain temperature and humidity conditions, and I guess some guidance on treating the leather.. Take some photos, or ask them to if possible, prior to their work commencing, you need evidence in case the process compromises your car's interior. P400e HSE Portofino Blue and Ivory Seats.. it's like a yacht!!

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Well, my RRS went into the dealers for the steam treatment 2 weeks ago on 4 seats due to poor fitting and sagging/ loose fit or poorly fitted leather panels, I was informed that the Tech was pleased with the result.. I was not!. one small side panel on the front seat did improve, but the majority of the other larger areas were the same or now worse. Also nothing done to the head rest panel that has a rough leather grain. Again I was told that LR will not consider the leather issues a problem as leather is a natural product.
I am far from happy and just wondering what course to go for next.. LR customer relations I guess..

Also not related but of interest, I had an issue of intermittent rear wiper failure.. No fault code logged and they can not reproduce the failures, so they say there is nothing more they can do.. again far from happy..

Seriously thinking of either trying to reject the car or sell it. its only covered 1 K mikes. I tried to contact the dealer principle by phone three times, but unable to be connected I was told.. so also tried messages through service department as unable to actually speak to the manager and also visited the dealer, but all to no avail. So maybe again a situation for LR customer relations . Failing all this I may just get rid of the car and advise everyone I possibly know not to touch the dealer or the latest LR Sport. D4 2012 Santorini Black gone
RRS 2013 Santorini HSE Black gone
MY2016 RRS HSE Dynamic arrived September, but will it stay.. maybe not.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I read in the motoring press that JLR are considering producing a £200,000 FFRR to compete head on with the Bentgay what ever it is. One thing for sure is that no customer buying at that price level will walk into a Land Rover showroom and put up with being treated like the idiot that some sales staff treat potential customers and they definately wlll not put up with the poor quality control by the factory, cut price fittings and furnishings and the awful after sales attitude of some dealerships. Even though I don't like the Bentgaya, if I were spending that sort of money a FFRR would be about the last car I would consider if QC and trim quality doesn't improve across the entire range, not just L405. Evoques for example sell at a price level way higher than it's competitors yet what Halewood is pushing out today is of lower standard finish than a Dacia Duster or a Skoda Yeti selling for half the price, even if the fitting look nice they dont feel nice and are flimsy and of low quality. It isn't building down to a budget it is maximising profits............... and it shows badly on Discosport and Evoque. I have been a Land Rover owner since 1996 and am struggling now to justify buying their products purely beacuse I cannot justify the price for the quality of the end product. At least my 2015 RRS2 is much much better built than my 2014 Evoque was. The RRS has no rattles and was delivered with all the options fitted and working! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

taken me over a year 1 trimmers attempt from dealer, LR suppliers attempt to replace & fit complete new covers (only took 2-3hrs👍) Now going in end January for LR to steam foam and leather, not been good customer relations as its taken so long to get to this sad point. Big Cry

Took plenty of pics before leaving with the dealer. It'll be interesting to compare the 'before n after' shots. I'm also going to PM Pete on here to confirm that the alleged switch from specialist trimmers to in-house fella with a bucket of soapy water & a sponge is a legitimate / approved fix.

Big Cry

Cayenne or Merc for me next time

I'm kind of worried about ordering black & ivory and now thinking that maybe I should order all black interior.
Has anyone had the same faults with black, or does it just seem to be with the colour combinations. 2010 RR 5.0 Autobiography

I wonder if this is the official response they have been asked to provide to customers! My service guy said something very similar 2 months ago: "The seats look much improved now. You will be pleased." I really wasn't.

Showed my seats to the service department again while picking up the spare wheel lift strap and asked them to make a note of it. Will ask them to look at making it the way it should be whenever the car goes to them next. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
