Hi All,

This is my first post so apologies in advance if this questions have already been asked and the solution provided, i just couldn’t find anything (there probably is) related.

Have a RRSport 2007 2.7 Diesel with 102k on the clock, car has been regularly serviced.

On hard acceleration there is a considerable delay of about 5 or more secs before it shoots off like a train. The garage have said that it may just need the gearbox reflashing/resetting but it seems at best guess work from them. Which means i may end up paying for the ‘guessing’ work.

Additional info:
Car has been regularly serviced by a local LR Specialist and has recently had a mega flush (3mths ago) and a recon torque convertor fitted about a month ago,


Anyone have any idea what this could be? Or what i could suggest for them to check?

Do you mean pulling away from rest is slow - the legendary 'suicide hesitation' ?

Tends to be the software mapping for the gearbox that makes it set off in second gear (fuel saving strategy). Can be improved with a gearbox software update and clearing the adaptations. Cleaning the MAP sensor and putting some Millers injector cleaner through the tank sometimes helps too.

If you mean that when you are rolling along at a slow speed and floor the throttle there's a long lag before it gets going then firstly - and I am not wishing to be rude but are you sure you are pressing the throttle pedal past the 'kick down' position to make the car drop a gear or two? If you don't do that then it stays in 6th gear and the turbo doesn't spool up until the revs have increased quite a lot.

Alternatively the actuator rod on the turbo might be seized but generally if that's the case then you'd be really down on power and probably seeing a fault light up on the dash. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Accidentally clipping the brake pedal with the boot on the way to pressing the accelerator can cause it as well.

When i say hard acceleration this is either from standstill (lights or setting off) or when switching lanes on the motorway. I’m basically hitting the floor with the pedal when accelerating, There is a delay and then what only can only be described as a surge and then the car flys off . (It just feels like the car is pulling a trailer along with it), so this could be the ‘suicide hesitation’ you are referring too.

The car has been at the local LR specialist for the last few days and after scanning it came up with it came up with 3 EGR errors, two of which have been cleared but one remains which is:
P140A - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor C Circuit Low –

The garage is struggling to work out what this is relating too (which makes me wonder if they know what they doing ) Im getting a update from them today on what they have done and will post of here.

I’ve read many posts saying to blank the EGRs to bypass them but the garage is stating blanking them with this error would continue to cause the problem and that the error needs to be cleared before hand.

Would blanking the EGRs and then having the car remapped help resolve this?

The egrs need to be blanked and the software updated to stop the EML coming on.
It's classic EGR failure symptoms. I was confused as your first post says that they have been blanked off already, but your later post seems to suggest that they haven't been? Bodsys Brake Bible

Bodsy, no sorry these have not been blanked yet. that was just my novice understanding of 'blanking egrs off' (still a novice)

had a chat with the garage and they reckon it maybe a 'electrical loom issue' and blanking wouldnt resolve this? is this true?

where are you based as Im based in leeds area.

I get around all over.
This error is common, it's unusual for it to be a wiring issue if I'm honest as the EGR wiring is pretty robust (although of course it's possible it's wiring, but not usually)

Bodsy, do you blank/map TDV8s too? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
