110K On The Clock Sell Or Try For 200K?

I posted this on the North America link, no replies? Perhaps someone across the pond has some advice...

The title says it all. I have a MY 2006 Sport HSE that I bought new. I have meticulously cared for this vehicle and it does run very well. However, I suspect it's just a question of time before I encounter a significant repair bill.

If I keep her, I'm going for 200K, assuming "they" are capable of hitting (trouble free) that milestone. If I sell, I'm looking at a LR 4 or perhaps the new Discovery. Our other vehicle is a 2012 FFRR of which we very much enjoy. The question is, "does anyone own a relatively trouble free high mileage Sport?"

Thanks in advance for your feedback...

France 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Firenze Red

Hi !

Five months ago, I had exactly the same problem with my Q7..... MY12 108k ...... the RRS was too fine for me..... So I change!!

But I think that it's always the same dilemma....

If you have the money.... what is your pleasure ??

the other problem is at 200k, the value goes really down.... So I don't think if it's the same in the States but it's really true in France !

My addiction means I change my cars too frequently to be faced with this issue. Embarassed
But I think I'd be inclined to walk away now before the relationship goes sour as at this sort of mileage it's more a case of 'when' not 'if' something goes wrong.
So I guess you gotta ask yourself the question......do you feel lucky...punk? ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I've been having this same dilemma so have given this some thought. The actual question is: is the cost to run it to 200k greater than the cost to change? Even a big repair bill is likely less than the cost to change assuming you buy a relatively new second hand replacement. If you buy a new replacement then the depreciation that suffers will be more than the cost of keeping the current vehicle running.

I'm trying to decide whether to refresh the suspension and torque converter now, at 111k miles, or just trade it in for a D4. The RRS is probably worth less than 10k as a trade in so I'll have to spend 20k to get a decent D4. I did 28k miles in the last 12 months so any replacement needs to be low miles (expensive) and will do a lot of miles (big depreciation).

So I'm tempted to try to get my RRS to 200k miles too. Just to see if it will. As we're looking to spend 100k+ on the house next year I think I know what the boss's view of me trading it in will be! Whistle 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Is that 200k km? The OP will be talking about 200k miles. By 200k miles the value will be pretty much zero... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
