Vesuvius Orange RRS TDV8 Kahn

Hi all,

I'm new on here and hope you can help with my query. My day job is selling used light commercial vehicles and 4x4s, however a family member has asked me to sell his RR Sport. It's a Vesuvius Orange RRS TDV8 which he bought from Kahn Design in 2007 and to be honest I don't really know an awful lot else. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

1, how many of these were made?
2, is the BHP increased over a standard TDV8?
3, any mechanical weak points I should check before sale?
4, are these considered desirable?
5, value over a standard TDV8?

Thanks in advance!

Conor

Conor, welcome to the forums.
Kahn makes "bespoke" one off cars. Vesuvius Orange was not universally popular (it was only used for approx 300 factory built First Edition Supercharged 4.2Ltr V8 S/S's) cars and there never was factory Vesuvius Orange RRS TDv8 so your family member's car will be pretty well be unique. Many Kahn creations are not resprayed but are wrapped so i would check if it is a wrapped car or a resprayed one....... Kahn vehicles are an acquired taste which reduces their salablity with cars of that period having poor quality stuck on body addons and rather unpleasant interiors with acres of "Bentley" quilting. Kahn has upped it's game a lot since 2007 with slickly produced (and better attached!) new panel addon's and more restrained interiors. You may have to price it at less than the going rate for a 2007MY RRS TDv8 to shift it on. I'm sure if you contacted Kahn with the VIN they will also be able to let you know what the original spec and colour of the car was. TDv8's of 2007MY came as factory built HST models, dealership built out of a kit HST's or as a standard HSE spec. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Tim, are you a diplomat by chance?

Shakeapaw - 'can we have pictures side and out' .... Were you never taught that it's rude to laugh at the afflicted?

Foxtrot there are some Kahn's like their Fuji white RS400 and the Ford racing blue version of the RRS that I do like, but most of Kahn's conversions (and not just the RRS versions) are too extrovert for my taste 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Got to agree Tim. Most Kahn's look like they've crashed through a Halfords shop window

I'm afraid the Quilted Interiors remind me of my old Grannies quilted bedspread which was 18th century.

Cheers

Like any modified car, its just a case of right place right time and you may find a young lad and this is exactly what he's looking for.

Personally not a fan of the early Kahn kits, but I love the Vesuvius Orange MY07 TDV6 HSE Stornaway & Ivory

You could stick it in the For Sale section here, as mentioned above it could be just what somebody is looking for. A bit different from all the Stornoway Grey, Santorinni Black and Alaska White 2007MY TDv8's that are out there. If you do put it here it would be an idea to add the service history and what replacement bits like suspension bushes and other bits known to wear out quickly have been replaced and if the gearbox fluid has been changed. Crucial for selling these cars at a good price is a FLRSH, even though it is a Kahn the mechanicals and 4WD systems do need proper maintaining 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I think it's utterly repulsive. Happily we all like different things. Tim In Scotland may be right in saying that a more niche marketplace like this might be a better bet than elsewhere. It's certainly an acquired taste and I can't help feeling that both the Kahn modifications and then orange colour will knock a fair bit off its saleability, and hence its value.

I hadn't even noticed the wheels, and even now I don't think they ar too awful ....... When compared with the colour and the chavvy quilted interior.
