Oman 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange

Ok spoke to Connects2. They say they have nothing that will work Big Cry

Guess I need to see what I can cobble together myself.

My first thoughts are to strip down the HU like you have all done leaving just the main board. Then I'll try and relocate that plus the fascia behind the heater controls so that it can now stay powered on and I can use the aux in to stream the music etc from the Tablet.

Controls would still be through the tablet, and I'd use my AudioControl Overdrive Plus line driver to control the volume with the provided dial installed in the dash by the tablet.

And obviously the top screen would still function for as long as I want to keep it there....

Right off to strip down a RRS HU Whistle

Cheers

Guyzer my unit is the 6 disc player and it strips down just like the single,

my picture of the rear of the plug is from a telephone kit that I have canabalized so that I don't have to solder to the pins on the back of the head unit, so wire colours are all over the place. As far as your amp goes I would look on eBay for a full workshop manual on disc, as this will give you a full wiring layout for your amp.
Just a thought my new alpine units inbuilt amp is excellent and easily runs the speakers, do you need to keep the old amp? Diesel sport BAS remapped by Bodsy

Cheers for the help guys Thumbs Up

Played around for a couple of hours whilst wife and daughter were out for a walk and came up with this:

Bad quality photos from phone with poor lighting...

Basically I disassembled the HU like the both of you. Then using the spare housing I have, I trimmed the metal backing plate to the fascia and then the plastic fascia so they'd slide back into the recess.

I now have a mini HU behind where the tablet will be installed Very Happy

So back on track with the build. Should get the rest finished tomorrow. At least roughly so that I have radio etc for the min. drive to work on Sunday.

I'll continue the remainder on the thread I started here:

Thanks again for the help guys Thumbs Up

Have a good weekend all Smile

Cheers

Ok so I finally finished sorting out my new stereo while retaining the top display,

It looks so much better with both screens, anyway I basically followed the instructions from the other guys who did this, the only change was that I ordered 2 connectors for the fibre optics instead of just the one, so keeping the in out of the original (as per olly ibiza's post)

To fit these you need to disconnect the original plug, you do this by pushing out the blue pin in the middle of the plug and gently lifting the tangs either side of it, this releases the cables.

When you have done that you can then put the stripped done original stereo

In the space behind the heater controls, I loosely wrapped mine in cloth to stop any rattling

And reassemble .
Done at last Thumbs Up

Just thought, I connected 1 more wire than Royrw as this was on my plug

I have now decided to fit a better reversing camera (alpine) in the spoiler as the wireless one i fitted where the number plate light is, is frankly total c**p.
I'll need to find out how to run the cable from back to front, should be fun Big Cry Diesel sport BAS remapped by Bodsy

They don't run through the amp, just wire the sub speaker connections to the rear speaker connections. Use a HF filter to keep the bass low. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

Sorry to be a pain but which ones are the subwoofer wires ? At the minute I have a speaker lead that runs from the speakers which plug into the back of my amp running to the speaker plug which comes out the back of my head unit. And does anyone know which wires go where on a gvif unit as the instructions that came with it are absolutely useless ?
