Is this a defect in rrsport bodywork?

I noticed this on the pic of the sport I'm about to buy tomorrow, I'm not sure if its a known problem on sports as I have now zoomed in on v8 bonnets and they all seem to vary in gap above the lights, the v6's seem okay. So questions are:

If I buy this can I fix it by moving the light position (undo the screws and move it) or reshape the bonet by pulling on it on the corners to make it flush?

It would be a real damp rag on my new purchase as I'd see it every time I look at the thing ;(
I'm about to wire the guy the cash over by BACs but thinking to go view it one more time.

Sucks as I was all set, found the one and all that!

Just checked mine - fine - but mine has been face lifted - the lights have to be perfectly aligned to allow the securing brackets to snap into place so i dont think you can fill the gap that way. The bonnet does give on both corners but it naturally pulls back.
Looking at your pic something definitely does not seem right - I cant imagine the frustration your feeling now - but buy with your head not your heart - your the customer - have another look - lift up the bonnet & see if there is something obviously wrong Big Cry

I wouldn't worry about it too much, it could just be the headlight hasn't been alligned correctly after having a bulb changed.

My 07 RRS was the same, although it's hardly noticeable on my 2012 RRS. 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

Thanks guys, appreciate that. you make me jealous with the newer models, but guess I have to start somewhere Smile I'll go take a look at it before I give any cash over. The man is a genuinely nice guy and I don't think as a dealer he is trying anything, it just looks suspect. Perhaps I can fix it with adjusting the headlamp again, the other side off the jeep looks better than this side, so it might just be that.

Audi and BMW are wizards at creating tight fitting cars, so coming back to old British designed cars I guess there is going to be a bit of give and take. But everything else in the thing looks tip top, the insides show care has been taken, its not had any bling added to it (yet) not even steps or mud flaps, so I'm thinking its not seen much abuse.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow Wink

May be just a matter of adjusting the bonnet and locating it correctly or possibly realigning. The bonnet locates on catches above each of the headlamps

There was a gap on mine on one side (although smaller than the one on your photo) which I took out by adjusting the catch but it has made it more difficult to close the bonnet.

Its a feature.

I've noticed it with several of the Range Rovers and the Sports and think it happens when the bonnet rubbers are too high and owners shut the bonnet hard so, over time, the central bonnet catch pulls the centre down against the upwards tension of the rubber stops cause it to develop a curvature.

A good bodyshop technician might be able to 're-adjust' i.e. bend it to re-align better.

Good lads, good advice. I've the guy taking it to a body shop to check it over, I'd guess they will sort it. But at least it is fixable, its been HPI clear so I've no worries over that. Just a cosmetic glitch.

Picking it up at 1pm Smile

Looks like that bonnet is buckled, it's definitely been in some sort of strife, the panel gaps across the sport especially at the front are usually pretty uniform, if you look closely at the front grill it's super snug, and lifted along the entire edge on the near side, pretty badly tbh, so someone's bent it for whatever reason, it'll be an interesting job for a panel shop, as the paint won't like being pulled and stretched, as they heat that bonnet into shape you'll be wise to get them to clay that bonnet, get a sun torch and depth gauge and see if it's damaged the paint.
I reckon you'll get lots of extra wind noise you'd not normally expect.
