an interesting comparison and surprised about the V8 v's V6 gap... when I had a 4.4 TDV8 for a few days I felt it very similar in poke/performance to my 3.6 TDV8 (mapped of course) so to say the V8 is in a different league to the V6 raised an eyebrow!

Am I missing something here? You've compared a 4.4 TDV8 against a 3.6 mapped TDV8 then commented on a V8 compared to a V6. Comparing a 4.4 TDV8 against a 3.0 possibly mapped TDV6 would have been a better choice surely.

My comment was in response to this quote Oldcro Thumbs Up

Quote:
The first biggest difference (and it is a huge one) is the V8 vs the V6, the V8 4.4ltr jobbie is absolutely awesome and quite frankly knocks spots off the V6, they just aren't in the same league! The V8 is smooth & pulls like a train right from the bottom end right up to the top end and is a joy to drive, on the motorway it purrs along beautifully. And, before i hear you all say well what about the fuel economy difference it is not as much as you think, i reckon i averaged about 2/3 mpg worse than my RRS.

So many 3.0 TDV6 owners are saying the new V6 is just as rapid as the TDV8, and now we have someone saying the 4.4 is in a different league to the 3.0L. However, my personal experience is that there wasn't much between the 3.6 TDV8 and the 4.4 TDV8 Saying that my TDV8 is mapped, so that might be the answer. RRS gone

@awd

Your mapped 3.6 won't be too far off the output of the 4.4. I think the figures for both in standard tune are:
3.6 - 268bhp/472lbft
4.4 - 308bhp/516lbft
I reckon your mapped 3.6 will be in the region of 300bhp/500lbft so very similar to the 4.4 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yeah I keep forgetting not all TDV8's are equal Mr. Green

I met a chap last week who has the standard TDV8, and he was saying he'd been in a mapped one and was blown away by it.... I just kept quiet and smiled.

I keep toying with getting a BAS map for mine. Going to get the gearbox flushed first though as it's a bit "lumpy". Hopefully it'll feel better then and I might go for the map... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Don't care what they look like from the outside - when I'm driving it I can't see it and I don't sit at home looking out of the window at it either. I don't buy cars for what other people think they look like but 377bhp/627lbft, 5.7s 0-62, 34mpg all sounds pretty tasty to me. Thumbs Up

One of the best driving cars I've owned - 309 GTi - was generally considered ugly but was a fab car to drive.

As for "character", that used to be a euphemism for "unreliable" when I was a lad...the RRS certainly has "character" just like Alfas did, along with just about every British sports car! Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Imagine how the new 300kg lighter RRS with the 4.4 SDV8 will go. I cannot wait.

For me the 3.0sdv6 will be enough, plus from what ive read about the FF the v6 is the smoother engine and the best buy. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.
